This informative, educational and fun course is based on Valentia Island, on the Skellig Ring (a Lonely Planet top 10 must visit location), in County Kerry, Ireland. The tuition takes place in and around the Island, so that you get to see and photograph this beautiful location in it's full glory.
Your accommodation is at Stephen Power's home on Valentia Island, with stunning views over Portmagee Bay and in a central location. It is very convenient for all of the photographic locations that will be explored during the course. The course will have a maximum of four people accommodated, although 2 or 3 is more likely, due to the accommodation arrangements. Maximum group size will be 7 people.
Two rooms are available, one has an en-suite shower and a double bed (or one person or a couple sharing) and the other has 2 single beds, for one or two people sharing the room. This room has an adjacent bathroom/shower toilet.
The course will consist of a mix of learning experiences; informal chats over meals, short theory based lectures, a wide range of extensive location shoots, including early morning and evening shoots and post-processing using a PC computer and laptop installed with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
The course runs from the evening of Good Friday (14th April 2017), with a meal at around 7.30pm. Until around noon on Monday (17th April 2017). The start time and finish time are flexible (more so the finish, as the last morning will be a "revision and final shoot" session. Some people may wish to leave a little earlier to get on the road or stay a little longer.
The two main full course days will run from after breakfast (around 10am) on Saturday and Sunday (15th and 16th April 2017). These long days, with teaching and location shoots until about 7pm, with an optional information chat over an evening meal around 8pm and lunch, in the middle of the day.
Stephen Power has a Master's degree in adult education and knows from experience that it's useful to have some flexibility with schedules and timing, as the main aim is to give you the teaching and learning that you need, which will be discussed with you over the welcome meal, or at the start of day 1 if you can't attend the meal.
Lunches & 2 dinners at own expense, Stephen will be available for discussion over meals, to make the learning as "immersive" as possible if required.
